You’ve put in the training, been to all the classes, applied the management plans and had wins no one else sees. This offer is for the reactive dogs, the dogs that are still learning, or the ones in sports. This quiet new location is in Hurstbridge (on the northern outskirts of Melbourne) with the gum trees, open space and magical sunset light.

This is a model call for five Sessions while I trial this new location and a new artwork ordering process. The Session itself doesn’t change, space and safety still come first, and what comes through is your dog’s real personality, not a performance that doesn’t feel like your dog anymore.

Every Session moves at your dog’s pace. If someone approaches, I step in. If your dog needs space, we take it. While we might ask for some poses, if your dog isn’t feeling it we don’t pressure them into it. Most dogs settle into the Session pretty quickly, and that’s when the real photos happen.

About the photographer

I’m Anthea, and I specialise in photographing reactive and challenging dogs. Before picking up a camera, I spent years training and rehabilitating a fear-aggressive dog of my own, and working around human-aggressive dogs through GRC. That experience is why clients trust me before they’ve even seen my portfolio, I understand dog training, not just photography.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my dog need to be perfectly behaved for this Session?

No, and your dog’s training doesn’t need to be “finished” either. This offer is for dogs who’ve had real training invested in them, not dogs who behave perfectly. I’m looking for people who care about the process, not perfectly behaved dogs, so reactive, nervous, or still-in-progress dogs are exactly who this is for.

Can I bring more than one dog?

Yes, up to two dogs are welcome, as long as they’re from the same household.

Why is this called a "model call," and what's different about this Session?

This is a model call because I’m trialling both a new location and a new artwork ordering process. For this offer, you’ll be photographed at my new Hurstbridge location rather than choosing from my usual location guide, and after your Session you’ll go through the new artwork ordering process I’m refining. Everything else stays the same, the Session itself and how I work with you and your dog on the day is exactly the same as my regular Sessions.

Is my $100 deposit refundable?

This follows my standard cancellation policy, scaled to the $100 deposit. If you cancel within 14 days of paying and your Session is more than 14 days away, you’ll be refunded 50%. If you cancel more than 14 days after paying, no refund is issued but you can reschedule at no cost with at least 48 hours’ notice. Cancelling within 48 hours of your Session forfeits the deposit in full. Genuine emergencies are assessed case by case.

As someone with a dog who has their own quirks and challenges, I know how stressful and vulnerable it can feel putting them in unfamiliar situations. Anthea made us feel completely at ease from the start. There was so much patience, understanding and kindness, and I never felt judged or rushed. It genuinely felt like she saw my dog for who they are and focused on capturing that, rather than focusing on their reactivity. I’d recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone, but especially to people who worry that their reactive dog might be ‘too much’ for a photoshoot

If you have a reactive dog, I can't recommend Anthea enough! Having first hand experience raising a reactive dog herself, Anthea takes the time to understand how to keep the session stress-free for you and your dog. We recently took part in her seasonal Fall shoot in light rain, and she was incredibly patient, kept everything fun, light and relaxed. Anthea is amazing at capturing gorgeous candid shots without making your dog feel pressured. She even went to the extent of laying flat on wet asphalt with my dog running towards her full throttle so she could capture an action shot I had in mind - one that is now my favourite photo ever. She even used the soft rainy light to make the autumn colours pop. She is the first person who comes to mind when someone tells me they wish they could capture some lasting memories with their beloved (reactive) dog out in nature.

We had the most wonderful session with Anthea! Our dog is fear reactive towards strangers and we had let her know in advance. Anthea was so great with Nilla - she ignored her and eventually Nilla warmed up to her. The whole session was super relaxed and fun filled! The shots were beautiful and captured Nilla so well. Absolutely love the photos & can highly recommend Anthea for shoots, especially with nervy dogs!
